Movies

I have decided to make a list of my top ten favorite movies (It all depends on how I am feeling on any given day.)
  1. Pulp Fiction- Quinten Tarantino is a genius.
  2. Beer Fest- Constantly quoted among my friends and I, it is hysterical
  3. Slumdog Millionaire- I just saw this and I loved it.
  4. The Usual Suspects-....Caezar Solce
  5. Scarface-Classic
  6. Finding Nemo- heartwarming (and my uncle wrote it so I gotta give him some credit)
  7. The Big Lebowski- I am not sure why I like this movie so much
  8. The Life Aquatic- I love how Wes Anderson pays so much attention to every detail in this movie.
  9. Caddyshack-Another Classic
  10. The Royal Tenebaums- Another Wes Anderson movie that I love.

These are all subject to change in order, also to lose their place on the list.

We Don't Need No Water Let...

Samuel Pepys was a man of pretty high status living in London during the 1660's. During his time there was a monsterous fire, probably comparable to the fire that struck Chicago during the early 20th century. Reading his account on the fire made me realize how great we have it today. You see, back then they did not really have water pressure so their efforts were meaningless considering they were pretty much just pouring buckets of water on it compared to today where we have extremely powerful hoses to fight fires with. Also they did not really have a middle class and there was not a whole lot of love existing between the upper and lower class. Also we value different things in our culture, for example of a fire was about to destroy my home I would not make sure to bury my parmesan cheese.

Also I hope people would try to help their neighbors unlike Mr. Pepys who upon hearing about the fire, went back to sleep as if nothing had happened. Pepys also showed us how they treated their women during this era. Pepys would be juggling multiple mistresses while having a wife. People in their time married only for political reason and did not believe in a thing called love

I like to read Pepy's diary because it makes me feel good about the progress we have made as a civilization as a whole. Also I was not a fan of how they beat children on occasion.

Also in my month he seemed pretty professional. He was always going out to eat ( rarely did he eat at home) or to the tavern to presumably discuss things of business nature. He seemed like a very driven indivual and I respect him for that. What I don't respect in my month is that he beats a child for an unknown reason.

Phish

This year, Phish announced they were reuniting and going back on tour. My friends and I were able to score some tickets for both of their shows at Alpine Valley.

I am looking forward to this because its going to be awesome.

Play Ball

Last year was a major let down for me. During the regular season the Cubs exceded all expectations I placed on them and seemed destined for postseason success. To the surprise of none, the Cubs managed to mess it up. Getting swept by the Los Angelos Dodgers was terrible. If Manny Ramirez was still on the Red Sox I believe the Cubs would have won the world series. It is now 5 days until pitchers and catchers report to spring training and I am looking forward to hopefully another great season. I realize now that I need to start doing some research for Fantasy Baseball. GO CUBS
